Location Description

Tuakau is nestled in the heart of Franklin Country and offers an unspoilt slice of rural life within an hour's drive of Auckland - the country's largest and busiest city, and just 50 minutes drive from Hamilton.

The Franklin District has a population of 47,300 with three main towns and a number of smaller settlements.

The land varies from gentle rolling contours to steep and hilly. Crops of root and leafy vegetables make a picturesque patchwork of ploughed fields. Sheep, cattle and deer graze the hills. There are pockets of horticulture - citrus, apples, tomatoes, flowers and kiwi fruit. For a taste of the country, roadside stalls offer a selection of fresh produce.
